Manoel Graciano was born in Santana do Cariri in 1926 to a very poor family.Self-taught, he learned how to handle tools and materials by making toys and other things for daily use. When the Centro de Cultura Popular Mestre Noza opened in 1985, Mestre Graciano was able to sell his fanciful wood sculptures through the Associacão dos Artesãos de Padre Cicero. His work is highly respected and is represented in important private and public collections.
