A formally trained artist with a Fine Arts degree from the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA) and several years of study in Florence, Italy, Goya Lopez draws inspiration from folk symbols of Brazil’s African and aboriginal traditions to create contemporary designs for textiles, clothing, banners, and home accessories available through Didara (meaning “good” in Yoruba), a respected contemporary design business she established in Salvador in the 1980s.
